“Under the law of Hong Kong, intoxicating liquor must not be sold or supplied to a minor in the course of business.”
At the end of the 1800s, three distilleries were set up in Fort William. Glenlochy, established in 1898 and closed in 1983, Nevis Distillery, established in 1878, which only remained in action for a few years, and, of course, Ben Nevis, which continues to produce whisky today. With its intense oxidative character, this version immediately embodies the unique Ben Nevis style. Refusing to do things by halves, it draws out the essence of each note in its palette of flavours and aromas. The particularly luxuriant mid-palate is a perfect example of this.
Profile: the original initial nose is at once oxidative and exotic (pineapple, mango), evoking a Jura vin jaune. Allowed to breathe, citrus fruits (lemon) and verbena refresh the aromatic palette. The lively attack is honeyed and fruity (apricot). The finish is also exotic and reveals spices (clove) that are even more direct in the empty glass. Single Cask no. 2375 – Sherry Butt.
